What’s the best way to reattach this wicker-like part of my nice outdoor furniture? The pieces are not long enough to reweave as normal. All nine other pieces are still in great shape, except for this eyesore!

I would glue it in inconspicuous areas with e6000

Get cording of the same diameter and weave it in. Paint.

The only way to make the reed pliable is to wet it, as mentioned above. I would soak, bend to shape & hold firm with matching nylon string or similar, then let dry.

Soak to soften, I would use wet papertowels. I would consider using wood glue some plastic wrap and clamps to hold the shape into place. Ive done vintage baskets in this manner. Hope this helps.

    Hi there,

It is possible if you go to a craft shop to buy Reid or cane for weaving and you could also buy or pick up a leaflet with how to do it..........Good luck! Or they may be able to give you the name of someone who takes on caning comissions to do it for you...........

I would use clear Gorilla Glue. Will hold a long time afterwards.

I would use a steamer on the wood to soften it enough to flex. Maybe microwaving a damp towel and wrapping the broken areas would help with that. Yes on gorilla glue or E6000, and wrap some tight tape or ? around it until it is completely dry and set, otherwise the ends may pop back up as they dry. Great idea using cording to weave into the holes if you can't reuse the broken parts.
