Hacking an Anthropology Trinket Dish

Coastal, beachy decor is something I just love so when I saw the oyster trinket dish on the Anthropology site I knew what I was going to hack next!
The Anthropology oyster trinket dish looks very small to me and I have large hoop earrings that would just fall right out of that little dish!
I have a lot of shells in my collection and here are some I just picked from a recent outing to the beach! One of these big white clam shells will work great! It is deep, wide, beautiful and will hold my large hoop earrings and more!
After cleaning with a bit a dish soap and a scrub brush it's ready for the next step

These are called Quahog clams, the oldest living things in the ocean! I read they have some on display that are over 400 years old!
They can become so huge that a person could sit inside one of these and still have room for another person!! Wow that is incredible to me!

Wow look at that, so beautiful! Easy peasy stuff! I sprayed both sides, let dry a few minutes and finished! Total time 10 minutes!!
Those pink hoops are pretty big about 3" and they look so small in my new trinket dish! Perfect for me!!

I use a large shell as a soap dish. I find that they tend to be a bit "tippy" though so I added hot glue to the bottom to act as stabilizers. Just add what you need where needed, let dry, then flip right side and make sure it doesn't tip .

That's a good idea - I only had the one large shell. If I get more maybe I can try that.

If it works for you then it is awesome! This is something else I made with 3 more big Quahog shells and some scrap 1" x 1" wood! Use it for cotton balls, Q-tips, jewelry, whatever you want and when not in use hang the shells back for pretty decor! I hope you can get more shells!
! You could also use a smaller shell as a base
flip it over (open part down) and use some JB waterproof works great!

This came out beautifully! Just wondering if you sprayed anything over the gold paint? (I know, you would have mentioned it if you had, but i had to ask!) To me, it almost looks a little like a veil of mother of pearl. It's so pretty! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try this in silver!
