There are many places that specialize in this... including Walgreens and online services.

you need special soft wear to do it. I-on product I think was what we used.

I am trying to do it my self. What is the software you used?

It’s an older version, the company was called I-on....my cousin does the movies from the recorder, she was able to get up to date software to do it. I know it’s out there...try new egg website, or research windows ten...I was surprised it had a diy photo slide show screen saver.

I had very bad experience with commercial services (we lost a tape or two which were in a very bad condition, inherited from distant relatives). Has anyone tried something like this at home? Any tips?

    A small update.

We decided to digitize my parents wedding video at home as a surprise, so husband gave this service a try. At first he wanted to use VirtualDub, but then he switched to this one www.movavi.com/videoeditor/ - since we needed to do some stabilization (the quality of the original footage was really awful thanks to cameramen). I don't think it's perfect, still, I was able to do some video editing at home. It wasn't easy, but now I know a thing or two and I'll be glad to share my experience. Here or in my blog.
