    Hi Cah,

In any small room it's a good idea to have multi-function pieces (like storage built-in to headboards, side tables, etc.) Also consider vertical pieces rather than horizontal - like bookcases that go higher rather than wider. That will free up some floor space. I like jar's suggestion for a murphy bed so that disappears when you aren't using it.

Good luck, we can never seem to have enough space!

Vertical pieces are a great idea! I will look more into that.

Add shelves and/or hooks to the walls for additional storage.

I also have 4 underbed storage containers that fit under a queen sized bed, if you have a smaller bed then you could still probably fit a couple. I use them mainly for purses, accessories, etc so that those items are taking up closet space. I have one where I keep books, just to keep the clutter down.

You can't make more space, but you can give the feeling of more space.

Think "UP!" Use the corners to put shelves in the corners, either from about waist high up or from the floor up. Put shelves with bins or baskets above the door or all the way across one wall above the windows.

Keep in mind that you don't need the traditional 4 piece bedroom suit. Select a space and put in lower kitchen cabinets with a finished piece of wood on top. They would have drawers and shelves for clothes and linens. The put cabinets with glass doors above.

We had a neighbor who finished out a small room on 2 sides with this and then put in a single bed. It looked fabulous!!!

use wall space and then make sure everything in the room has function and purpose as well as is pretty- then you don't have to feel like you need to decorate AND have all your necessities in the room- for example, hang jewelry on wall with hooks/etc and now you have art but also have your jewelry organized and more dresser space.
