An Upcycle – Using Paint & Stencils

This weeks’ upcycle is all about taking nothing and turning it into something. I love to make something old or something no one else wants into something useable and in my opinion, lovely again.
You can find the step by step tutorial on my Youtube channel for this upcycle. I had a ceiling fan replaced and kept the blades. When I kept them, I had no clue what I would do with them. Sometimes that’s how it works. You see something and get a feeling that it could be useful again. You don't know how or why but it usually works out.
The first step is to add a coat of paint of your color choice. I chose a black base coat for both the ceiling fan blades and the placemats.
I then began the stenciling process. To see the entire process, check out my Youtube channel for a step-by-step tutorial and to see my comparison of the different stencils.
As you can see, these turned out pretty great. I intend to use them on a gallery wall I am working with. I will reveal the wall once it is finished. Gallery walls can take some time. :) But for now, I am happy that I could take items that were on their way to the land field and found another use for them.

Do know that there are different grades and types of stencils. And in the video, I will show you the type I suggest you use and the ones I would stay away from.

I would like to add that this project cost me absolutely nothing. As I said, the ceiling fan blades and the placemats were throw-aways that I had. The black chalk paint was in my stash and I had the stencils in my stash as well. So for zero dollars, I have two interesting signs for my upcoming gallery wall. Not bad I would say!
