How do I get rid of the brown pond?

I have a lovely brand new water garden pond. Unfortunately they used hardwood mulch around it and the tannins in the wood have turned the water BROWN instead of the lovely clear water I was expecting. Help!
you may need to drain the pond ... sounds like the mulch has actually washed into the pond --- can you clean it out ? is there a liner ? or is it natural soil ? if a liner would be to your advantage to get as much out as you can ... and you'll need to put a net over it in the fall if you have trees that will be dropping leaves into it .... ponds are high maintenance, beautiful yes, but also a lot of work.
Remove as much mulch from the surrounding area as you can and replace with stone/rock so that 'run off' from rain won't carry soil, leaves, mulch into the water.

If there are no fish and no pets, just pour some bleach in it. If not, you can purchase fountain clearing liquid at any reputable nursery.
Have you got a filter on it? A good filter will help. I just wrapped mune around the pump and secured it with zip ties but ive seen peiple build homemade filter boxes. There are many products out there to help clear up the water. Check these out

Have the rain water from your roof run into your pond. It will dilute the brown water and the water will overflow leaving your pond clearer. We do this with our pond.
