Hello, I live in an affordable housing. My kitchen is a good size kitchen but storage is a HUGE issue. The gas pipe is outside of the wall, right behind the stove and it goes all the way up by the cabinets. It looks ugly, I don’t know what to do with it 😢sorry, I posted this question before but I selected the resolved button by mistake and now I stopped receiving messages from that post. I did not solved this problem please help me.

Here is a picture of the pipe. My kitchen is in really bad conditions. Needs urgent care!! Helppp!

  • Can you paint it the same color as the wall? You coukd hang a shelf right there and cut out a notch in the back for the pipe

Put up shelves with the notch cut out for the pipe and paint the shelves the color of your cupboards and/or the pipe.

Make industrial open shelves using similarly painted pipes.

You can also add another pipe on the other side to match it, but only for aesthetics.plus the industrial shelving.

I think industrial shelves are they way to go. If you are allowed to hang cabinets, just notch out the area where the pipes are.

Industrial shelving is good but often ugly. you could us bookcase style units. If you can use a hammer you can even make your own units. Doors are hard to install but a curtain should be no problem. Don't make shelves longer that 4 feet to avoid sagging in the middle.

If you choose shelving of any type, put it to the sides of the range, I would be concerned with a fire hazard if you hung anything over the range. Not just for a fire concern, but the items there (food) could be compromised by the temperatures from the heat given off.
