Hi again and I want to say Thank you to everyone who has Subscribed to my Youtube channel from viewing my ideas right here on Hometalk! And a big thanks to Hometalk for this wonderful site!! I learn many ideas, myself, right here .
Now this idea came to me in a dream. I have purchased a case of witch hat wall decor from the online site and came up with MANY ideas to transform the pattern. This one I had to order some type of head, and a tail that would light up. The purpose of the light is to have a 'night light' for my grand daughter to flip on when she has to see to go to bed. It now hangs right next to her bed and she does use it as a night light.
I went to Amazon and search for around a 12 inch head. I found a wooden one.
The head came right away for I am in Michigan, and so was the seller! great! In case I want another one. :D
I spray painted the front. I used a couple layers of pink, then glitter blast, and glitter flakes for the horn.
I already created a mermaid tail, and this was the start of my Mercorn idea. I just had to figure out how to attach and hoped the entire wreath wasnt out of poportion. See my video on Youtube. https://youtu.be/EghBNdgB3G8
I removed all the tinsel, and the nubs on the brim of the witch hat. I left the other nubs alone. To me, they grab on to the deco mesh and I leave them. I only removed the area where I am going to attach the head.
I purchased deco mesh silver from Oriental Trading. I wrap the entire hat form up until the brim part.
I have a glue gun that has a high and low temp, and I place the gun in the low position. I am going to glue gems and sequins, and decorations onto the tail part I wrap with deco mesh.
My grand daughter likes 'pink' and I am reusing old earrings that are broken. I try to repurpose many things.
After the tail was finished, and, the horse head was painted, I drilled holes one inch apart. I ended with six holes. I then used fishing line to attach. I didnt want to use pipecleaners, or wire, for I wanted this head to look almost invisible while it was attached. I used fishing line in many of my wreaths and other decor ideas. Then, I cut 55 nine inch pieces of pink glitter tulle, and tied them onto the brim of the hat. Next photo, shows how it looks half way done. I sprayed clear coat on the wreath and set over night. This is day two-for the layers of paint on the uni head also took a day.
On day three, I screwed on a handle. This wreath will be heavy, and I added this now before I started to add more on the front of the head.
After my hook was secured, I flip to the front and started to add screws. I wanted to use crystal dangles for the mane.
When all the screws and dangles were placed, I remove the dangles and glued on pink glitter tiles. I get a pk from Hobby Lobby. I used Deacon craft fabri-tac glue. They also sell a 3-1 craft glue that is the best!!
I allowed the tiles to set over night. Then, the next day, I reapplied the dangles on the screws. I added gems on the top of every screw. I added the unique butterfly wings I purchased from coolglow.com. The wings light up. I manipulated them to look like mermaid fins, and tied them on to the tip of the witch hat form. I had fun with this idea and probably will make another idea soon. Thank you for reading, and my Youtube video holds more photos of this project. Bless!!
