How do I pick a color to paint kitchen cabinets?

I want to repaint my kitchen cabinets to make the kitchen where it's not so dark looking. What color do you suggest?

Tina, you have asked the right question and you are already on the right track! Right now grey with white trim is popular, or go all white which is also just as popular! That is what I would do if I were you. Hope this helps!
I agree (and I'm doing) the above! I've scoured the decorating sites and the "in" thing is lightening the house! Grey hues and whites are "the" thing right now.
My kitchen is teeny tiny and the wood cabinets (and lack of lighting) make it look like doom and gloom. All that's missing is a bubbling cauldron and potion bottles! We are going white and doing the under cabinet lighting. Good luck!
The new colors are dark like navy, espresso or like mine I painted black. If you like your cabinents could you add lighting under them and in other places?
