Hi Ger, sand, and remove any paint or stain that is in the grooves.

get some heavy duty wood filler or wood bondo. Fill all grooves to smooth. You might need to build it up slowly. Then sand it smooth and finish to your likings. It’s pretty straight forward. And easy to do.

Hi, You could use plastic wood or woodfilla. Then when dry, rub down with fine sandpaper to match existing and refinish............Best wishes

Get a tube of wood filler (which is sawdust and glue, and squirt it in all the gaps you can reach. Pack it in with a smooth blade like a butter knife. And wipe it smooth on the surface with a rag or paper towel. When the filler has dried, use whatever markers or crayons or paint you have to look like the rest of the door. You can even paint the door from a wheelchair if you have a long handled paint roller and you can put down newspaper or an old rug to catch the drips. If you can’t paint to the top, pick a line, use a yardstick and pencil to mark the lines, and paint from there down. Let gravity help you. If you can do ANYTHING, you can make your surroundings better for you. I understand, and best wishes ☺️

    Hello again,

It will be very difficult to match, even if you use plastic wood, as the colour may be different from the base colour of natural wood, but if you are careful it could be disguised by using wood touch up pens to add grain to base colour before varnish or finish as used originally........good luck.....

I love the pens. I noticed in Dollar Tree yesterday SIX different colors, in two different packages, of the wood markers. That’s as many as I have in an expensive wood repair kit. ☺️
