What is this?

Ivy

It has a long horizontal mirror that goes on the top. Depending on what it is, any ideas to repurpose?

thank you!

    Ivy, I love it!

This looks like it would be a great book shelf and or add some bins on their sides for a playroom. If you could add similar shelves on the lower section, I would say a large shoe storage rack if you have room for it. I was trying to think how could be used for plants. You could add metal sheeting to insides of the two shelves and then dirt. Leave some drip holes so that water can run out. Spray a clear outdoor water sealer on the wood to protect it. Plant your favorite flowering plants and enjoy.

If you were leaving it outside I think a potting bench would be so cute. Add some clay pots stacked and hand tools, signs and some flowering plants. Inside a desk area with books, maybe instead of the mirror do a chalk board or place to pin up pictures or notes. Baskets for storage. Endless possibilities. Good luck

Outside, I would put the mirror on and then display pots of flowers. This would look lovely.

Inside, you could paint it or stain it up, and use as a shoe or boot rack.

Put hooks on top and add your bags or hats, scarfs.

Baskets underneath for post or other items.

My guess is that it's an old store display shelf. I think it would be nice to have multiple baskets or crates on each shelf. Depending on location, they could be nice wicker or cloth or alternately bright colors. I believe I have seen something like this holding crates of fruit and vegetables (for sale in old country stores).

I love it! What is it? Maybe an old potato/vegetable bin? The mirror may have been added later? I don't know, but it's so cool for any of the purposes above!

  • Yes, i believe tracy is right, it appears to be a display shelf. That is an incredible find! Whatever you decide to do with it, you should post it when you're all done!

I don't know what this actually was but love all the ideas list previously. I was thinking that it would be a great planting organizer. Use the shelves to store pots, add bins for seeds, place containers of soil etc underneath and hang tools from the cross piece.

As u can tell by other comments we would love to have in our homes....... after painting it,distress it. A make up vainty with baskets and cute stool, maybe a head board for small bed, in the bathrm with basket for to. paper, toiletries, hang a hook for towels, oh so many uses. Yes if u do make something out of it, send pics.

I would have said a wash stand as my grandparents had one similar to this behind the door leading from the kitchen to the woodshed where Grandpa washed up after being in the barn. I remember Grandma putting root vegetables there to dry after being pulled from the garden and rinsed. But then, my grandparents were always repurposing and DIYing, so I don't know. All of the previous ideas sound great.

grocery store stand to display fruits or veggies outside the store in summer time to draw customers in for more items. Remember Mayberry Ala. and andy nd opie checking out the produce store. :)

For a different take, if this were not a vegetable display, it might have been handmade for a church foyer to hold extra Bibles, songbooks, and bulletins. If you finish this and put it for sale, I’ll bet each prospective buyer will have a different interpretation. ☺️

This would be fabulous restained with wire baskets on the sloped shelves in the kitchen to hold fruits and veggies.

It looks like it could go in a pantry or laundry room to hold either bins for fruit and veggies, or add bins for soaps and detergent.

I think I would paint it and use for books etc in an office.
