This piece of furniture was painted for a customer's Lounge.

She wanted it updating and given a new look. When I asked her about what colour etc she would prefer - she said she didn't mind and she was going away on holiday and she said 'surprise me' - sometimes this can work out and sometimes not - although I've never done anything 'to-date' that a customer doesn't like. Thank goodness. But... then, I always think and say that, after all it's only paint and can easily be re-done.

I considered it for a while and thought I would use Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint. I have already used AS paint on some other projects and like to use it for certain items. So I chose the colour of Versailles.

This is a photo of Before in Situ
This is also a photo of Before in Situ - You will also see a table to the left, which I also painted and used the same Bronze Wax - I will give details of where you can find this further down.
First of all I gave it a good clean with soapy water and gave it a slight sanding using 120 grit paper - there was no need to do a lot of sanding as the unit was already in good condition.  This was my first coat of Primer.
I gave it 2 coats of white Primer using my 'go to' Zinsser BIN 123

2nd Coat of Primer
I then applied 2 coats of the Chalk Paint all over the table using AS Chalk Paint in Versailles, which is a very light green and let it dry overnight - not that it takes that long to dry, but I always tend to leave overnight and start the waxing the next day.
Another Photo from a different angle of the unit with 2 coats of Annie Sloan's Versailles

TIP - when using Chalk Paint I personally like to add small amounts of water.  As all Chalk Paints I have used are rather thick and when it is watered down it flows much easier and personally it looks and feels better.  Just go sparingly with the water, as you don't want to go too overboard with the water so add little by little. You can always add but you can't take out!!  It is much preferable to have two thin coats than one thick!
So the next day I applied the bronze wax with a soft cloth, rubbing it on but then taking some off.  I then buffed the whole of the unit with another clean soft cloth to give it a nice soft sheen.  This wax is enough protection for this type of unit.

I forgot to do a photo of placing the wax on the unit, but I was working on two pieces of furniture for the same room at the same time. You will find another post for this here on Hometalk

Whoops - sorry I left the TV on - hubby was in there watching it lol icon I had had a very busy couple of days! You can see both the table and the TV Unit together in this and the next couple of photos.
You will also see in the photo above two small coffee tables - I also re-vamped these, but they can be for another post.

I also painted the walls in her lounge. The photos look a little dark as my friend lives in an apartment here in Spain and there is not loads of light in there as she also has a balcony which does take some light out of the lounge.

I should have taken some photos on the balcony like I did with the small table, but alas I forgot to do those icon
This photo is a little better. I think the colour of the table and TV Unit looks great against the colour of her wall - hope you like it too?
Before and After of the TV Unit and the Table

PLEASE NOTE - I already had the paint and the wax from another job - so materials did not cost me anything for this one. But if you have to purchase the paint and wax, it would cost approx. $29
ASP for a 4oz project pot is $14
Liberon wax $14.50
And... you can use old cloths for this job
