My friend is turning 50.
Her family & I have been planning her party for many months now.
However, she has no idea of this as she should not. What she has now decided is to throw herself her own party.
A mad hatter inspired tea party.
We beat her to it!

Now, I could go insane purchasing decorations. However, I also can make my own. In the movie Alice comes upon a sign with multiple arrows on it pointed in various directions to go this way,
that way, go back, to the rabbit hole etc.

This is what I'm making today.

Starting out, I got free paint sticks from the paint store after I purchased a couple of gallons. I asked for the extra long paint sticks.
At the handle end, I will turn it into an arrow shape. But for now it’s a good handle while painting.
Finally, using the paint given to me by Hometalk. The color is so incredible and covers in one coat!
Fusion collection by Penney & Co. Color is Azure.
A turquios hue. It’s just georgous to work with. So beautiful and rich in texture and color.
Painting the sticks on all edges and both sides. I wondered if I should’ve waited until I actually put them in the shape I want. But I felt that the handle end would actually make it easier for me to hold it while I shapped it.
Plus, I had the time to do it now.
This photo shows you how incredible the coverage is over the dark blue store stamp. No bleed through & no second coat needed for this project. I’m not even sure if I was actually doing furniture I would do a second coat on that either because this cover so well.
My husband used his circular saw to make the points. We later painted those edges
Here it is all done. Hubby made a stand and screwed them into an oak scrap piece and a decking scrap for the base.
We are waiting for the party girl to arrive and that’s her mad hatter hat I made for her.
The top sign was specialized just for her.
The sayings are all from the movie.
It turned into a hat rack as guests arrived to claim their silly hat. Hats were purchased from Oriental trading post.

I wanted to share that it doesn’t have to be fancy and the most basic things can be practically free if we repurpose them. Decorations are ridiculous expensive and used only once.

This way it could be personalized.
