Should I paint or replace my bathroom vanity?

I think if you can afford it I would spend the money on a new one that is made from solid wood.

Take a drawer or cabinet door to the paint department of your home improvement store and ask for advice. They have the latest paints and stains and application tools for a professional job...and lots of great and easy ideas!

Is the wood bad or just icky? If it is icky, redo the drawer fronts. If it is bad, replace them.

If need be, You can replace just the drawer fronts too. Can you post a picture? You will get more specific advice as far as painting goes

Be very careful because they sell particle board vanities that are inappropriate for damp locations. Either gradually from dampness on the floor causing the lower floor contact area to expand and then fall apart or a pipe break and you find the cabinet in a pile in the floor. If you like the form of the old cabinet and it is solid wood then either sand etc. and revarnish or eurethane. If you are using paint don’t put water based paint over oil based without a proper primer. Water base paint may flake back off of oil paint. Take time to ask questions being carefull to evaluate their depth of knowledge and it does good to talk to several people. Preparation is most important of all. A poorly done job can be expensive to go back and correct and redo. Prayer before hand is also appropriate. pay attention to something you are being prodded about right on the edge of your consciousness. It might keep you off the plane that crashes or direct you to who has just what you want on clearance. Both have happened to me.
