Modern Farmhouse style is all the craze right now, so why not build a new dining table in this design? Sound fun right! Dining tables are great to gather around with family and friends while sharing stories and food.

This modern farmhouse dining table is not as big as a traditional dining table, so it's great for smaller dining areas or even breakfast nooks!

Plans can be found HERE

Let's get started...

First things first, cut all of the boards according to the cut list found in the plans. Then, drill for pocket holes and biscuits.
Since the tabletop was going to need time for the wood glue to dry, I assembled this first. I attached the wood boards together using wood glue and biscuits, then clamped together to dry. If you do not have a biscuit cutter, the boards can be joined with pocket holes.
I moved on to the building the base while the tabletop was drying. I made two leg assemblies out of 4x4's and 2x4's using pocket holes and wood glue.
I attached the aprons of the table to the leg assemblies with wood glue and pocket hole screws. There is a center support placed in the middle to act as a tabletop support. This will also give a surface for the tabletop to attach to.
From here, I sanded the entire project, base and tabletop. After sanding, I wiped away the dust and stained the base and tabletop while unattached.
This gave me better access to staining the base.

I mixed up a custom color for this table. This is so fun to do. The possibilities are endless!
Once the stain was dry, it was time to attach the tabletop to the base. Use wood screws and attach from the bottom side of the base. Then, I applied one coat of polyurethane. When that was dry, I lightly sanded, wiped off the dust, and applied a second coat.

Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for number of coats and drying times when applying polyurethane.

Here is the modern farmhouse dining table when it's all finished! I can't wait to use this for my next family and friends get-together!
