Hi, Use Kilz with primer in it over the spot before painting the wall. Kilz will stop the spot from coming thru the paint later. Hope this helps!

You can cover the burn mark with Kilz. It will cover and seal. I am concerned about the burner by the wall.

I would put fiberglass paneling behind the whole stove to prevent a recurrance.

First, you can cover up the burn with Kilz. It will block and seal. Then paint over. But, I would worry about it happening again. When I was redoing my kitchen, I put up a stainless steel looking backsplash behind my stove. You can do the same, so no more burn problems. Purchase galvanized sheet metal...about $7 at a home improvement store. See the pic below. I cut it to fit behind my stove. I used the glue below to attach it. It looks good, and solves the problem.

By “Bumpy” do you mean blistered? Degrease the area & around it and I’d use alcohol. Then sand it using a sanding block to burst the bubbles. Then use a Kilz type primer, feather the edges. Then use drywall Topping Compund, let dry and sand with a sanding block. Repeat until smooth to match adjacent. Then alcohol again on the dust & re-prime w/ Kilz. Paint to match, feathering the edges again.

If you own this place, it’s time to buy stainless steel wall or glass panels if your stove is right next to paint. Grease splatters are never ending maintenance.

Hang a picture over it? Seriously, wash it best you can and depending on paint type you might find paint coming off from surrounding area can be blended over bad area.
