You have seen pretty patina'd metal right? Well I have been dying to try the new products out there that allow you to create pretty patina instantly and here is one of my projects using it
I had this silver raised plate that had seen better days, the filigree and cutouts are pretty and the size is great so lets make it lovely again.

I started by cleaning it well and letting it dry good.
I chose Modern Masters blue patina kit. It is 3 steps, the first being 2 coats of primer painted on as shown above. I used a sponge brush to apply

I did my bedroom lamps at the same time, as well as another set of lamps in the green patina kit

Second step is to apply the bronze paint again in two coats allowing the first coat 1/2 an hour to dry then spray with the activating blue spray while 2nd coat is wet.

Then you sit back, watch and wait
And this is the end result!! What do you think? I am loving the finish and see so many new uses for it. The detailed tutorial blog post is linked at the bottom

It can be used on almost any surface so the possibilities are endless but I want to do gardening pots next year.
this is the kit shown on the left
