How do I paint over old ceramic tile in bathroom?

Our house was built in 1950 and has the original ceramic tile in bathroom and I would like to update the look but don't know if the tile can be painted over.

    Rustoleum or Homax tub and tile paint kits. They are epoxy based. Open windows, very smelly.

    Yes, Mya, just buy the special tile paint. If you can sand the tile enough to rough up the surface, the paint will adhere better. Here’s the hardest part. You need to let the paint cure about three days before sealing it. If the paint is self-sealing, it still needs to cure 72 hours. Paint over the grout by using a flat brush loaded with paint with your arm balanced by a square or a yardstick. Seal with a epoxy or polyurethane coat or two, with a day between coats.
