Fall Leaves Framed 3 Ways

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love decorating seasonally and making things that I can leave up for 3 months of the year to celebrate. I have 3 different ways you can frame fall leaves - each one is simple to do and you can mix and match to get the look you want.

Option 1: Gold Leaf

I painted a fake leave with Plaid Liquid Leaf - you can use real or fake leaves for this project. Let it dry completely.
I placed my gold leaf inside a frame. You can always make more leaves and use a bigger frame as well.
I used black construction paper and cut it to size to put as a background behind my leaf.
I put my frame back together and my first framed leaf is complete.
Option 2 - Etched Glass Leaf

I pulled apart my frame and removed the glass. I placed my Plaid Folk Art leaf stencil on my glass and used painters tape to hold the stencil in place on the glass. I used Martha Stewart etching cream and painted that onto the glass where the stencil was. I let it stand for 10 minutes as the instructions said.
After the 10 minutes were up, I washed off the etching cream and removed the stencil.
Here is what the glass looked like after washing it clean.
Place your glass back into your frame, and you can leave it to be a sun catcher without a back or...
I placed a piece of black construction paper cut to the size of the frame behind my etched leave and put my frame back together.
Option 3 - Preserving A Real Leaf

I picked up a colorful leaf and painted the front and back with Mod Podge. The key is painting on the Mod Podge within the first 24 hours of the leaf falling to help keep the actual color of the leaf.
Once my leaf was dry, I placed it in the frame, added a piece of construction paper behind it and put the frame together.
Here is how it looked when it was done.
There are so many different ways you can do this project, mix and match, add more, bigger frames, etc. Such a fun way to celebrate fall.
