How can I add doors to my laundry room without taking space??

My laundry room is just in the hallway and currently has bi fold doors that when open cuts down the space in the hallway. You can’t walk by with them open. I like the idea of barn doors but because it sits at the end of the hall it may not work! Thanks

A barn door may work if you have some blank wall by your laundry room. There can't be any hvac vents, light switches or electric plugs on the wall. You'll need the same amount of space on the wall as you need for the opening. If that won't work, maybe something like this will.

We did just that. The laundry is very tiny and the door opening in took up valuable space. My husband made a barn door out of cedar fence posts, white washed it the wall color, got the hardware from amazon for $50. So worth it! Now I have a mini mud room as well as having more space to work. The barn door needs to be 2” bigger than the frame of the door. I like it better than a pocket door bc it adds interest to a rather bland hallway.

We had that same problem. Bi-fold doors taking room from the hall. I took them off, painted walls to match hallway...added some cupboards over washer dryer and kept it neat. Never regretted it.

I have run into the same problem with a barn door (lack of room for the door to roll on). But like the idea of a double barn door. Have you considered a double barn door with each panel measuring about 18 inches. That would give you the ability to close the door to the laundry room and save precious space too.

If you have some cash to spare, you could get a pocket door kit if appropriate. Available at big box stores. Be sure to ytube that first.

    Super easy solution, thick curtains.

There is always sliding by-pass closet doors if that would work for you. I have those stupid bi-fold doors on a closet that is immediately behind the door to the room in a bedroom. Makes half of the closet almost unusable. Just a thought. Good luck.

If the doors don't work for you, then use a Curtain on a Pole!
