When picking out paint samples at a store, hold it up to a pure white. The strips where there are multiple colors deceive the eye and you can't tell how saturated the paint is with color. Besides that tip, the sky is the limit in color! Good luck!

Pale neutral colours always seem to go with most rooms.

If you choose a definite coloured paint always choose a colour that is not to clean a colour, slightly muted, will match up to other colours more easily.

Do you have a pattern in your furniture? Is there a color you could handle on the walls in the pattern? Do you have a blanket of the color you are thinking of? Put it on the wall and try a piece of furniture in front of.
