This year, my baby youngest is starting Kindergarten. How did the time fly so quickly? It feels like she was born yesterday and now she is starting school. It’s crazy!

When we first moved into this house, she was a toddler. I actually remember breastfeeding her during the home tour because she was ravenous & couldn’t wait! Yes, I mastered the feed-and-walk back then! Anyway, when we first designed her room, we designed it with a baby in mind. We had alphabet decals all over, along with baby animals all over her room. The color palette was basically gray & yellow.
We decided to paint jumbo popsicles right on the wall and I can’t wait to share how we did it! First, we used a level and pencil to create the basic outline of the popsicles. We used the level to create straight lines. Since we used a pencil, if a line or curve didn’t look quite right, we simply erased and started over. We wound up having to make a few adjustments along the way. If you look closely, you can see our pencil marks in the image.
Once we were happy with the basic outline, we brought out the paint. Like I said, we went with orange, pink, turquoise as the main colors in the room. For one popsicle, we made it orange with pink frosting. Later we also added sprinkles.
For the other popsicle, we made it tri-layered, using a basic turquoise paint and diluting it with white two times to create lighter versions. We also added a bite mark to this popsicle.
I love the way these turned out. They really add such a fun touch to her space and really bring home the popsicle motif. There is no way we could have found store-made decals in these colors & sizes for an affordable price! Here is the final look! We used a  Jenga  block (and rounded out the corners) to create uniform sprinkles!!
