How do I root Rose of Sharon?

Is it to late in the year to root rose of Sharon. The tree is young about 2 years old and about 3' tall. The top is shaped in a sphere/ball. I didn't prune it so it has grown out of shape a bit. I want to trim it but only if it's not to late to root the stems. Thanks.

It would not be too late here in north Texas. Save several of the stems for rooting at the same time. Start off in water. When you see 1” tendrils on the stems, move the stems to some good potting soil, with a little root extender/propagator added. Keep these tiny trees indoors until early spring when they can be planted. Do not overwater, but keep the soil damp by watering once a week. Best wishes ☺️
Early fall is a great time to plant shrubs. It's cooler and the plant has time to become acclimated before the hot weather begins next summer.
Take a clipping from a healthy stem and dip it in a rooting hormone powder ( I hear cinnamon also works for this!) and then plant in your planter.
