YES. Sand lightly to roughen the surface. Use a good primer first, then paint with your choice of color. Depending on your color, you may need 2 coats. If these are cabinets, I have use semi-gloss paint so they will be easy to clean. If it is a counter top then I would use gloss and certainly 2 coats. Let dry at least 24-48 hrs .
Cabinets are replaced all too often. They are still good; it's just "we" get tired of the color.

Many Thanks in advance Teri. Unfortunately, I didn't say that I have the horrible long metal things that join the backsplash to the counter. I hate them. I really wish they weren't there 2 begin with. Not sure what 2 do about them.
Hi Esther, I would need to see that metal things that you are talking about but I think that wouldn't be a problem. If you want to be double sure that it sticks, we do have a product called "Slick Stick" that you use a coat of that first and then our paint will def stick to it.

duffetent method than recommended for wood veneer I would say
It is super easy to paint your kitchen cabinets with Dixie Belle.
Step one : Clean with White Lightning
Step two: Use one to two coats of Slick Stick to make the paint adhere to the slippery surface.
Step three : Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral paint
Step four: Use Gator Hide for a water resistant finish.
