You can use diatomaceous earth. It's a white powder you can buy at a health or wellness store, or at the country co-op store. Do this out side as it may get messy. Pour some into a shaker bottle and lightly shake the powder onto the dog's fur. Brush it in, so it gets to it's skin. The fleas find it very course and leaves the dog. Make sure you remove the dog's bedding and give it a good hot wash before the powdering. I've heard you can de-worm you pet with this powder also as it does not harm your pet.

Use Dawn liquid orignal dish soap. It really works. Later them up really good they will. Litterly jump off the dog. They will also move to the dogs face so make sure to brush them off I did not use soap on face top of head. I brought home a chow puppy full of fleas gave him a bath never seen another. Rince well. Does not work so well on cats.

If you have carpeting, chances are they are living there just waiting to jump on your dog again. Add a flea killer to shampoo.
