Oversized Vintage Buffet Makeover

This very large buffet is super heavy, ornate and dark. I probably should have passed on it due to its size and the fact that it weighs a ton. But I couldn't resist the ornate details on the fronts. And that hardware! That hardware!
One positive is that this buffet does have wheels to help make moving it around a little easier.
Behind the center doors are great drawers for more storage. How cool is the hardware on those drawers! To get started the entire buffet is sanded, cleaned and prepped for paint.
The buffet is painted in a dark gray base followed by a dry brushing of cream. You can find great quality furniture paint online HERE.
More and more layers of grays, creams, and off-whites are applied in a soft layered manner.
The end result is a much lighter makeover.
You can see a little bit of all the colors.
As an added bonus the drawer fronts inside the center doors are given a fabric decoupage print.
The hardware is cleaned and also painted in a dark metallic silver to match the rest of the makeover.
The customer asked that the fabric pattern not line up properly to avoid being too matchy-matchy. If you like this post then make sure to check out my best tips and secrets to painting furniture.
