How passe are silk plants?

We have just remodeled our living room, dining room and kitchen. I gave away all of my silk plants except for two six foot, very expensive palm trees. One is in the living room and one in the dining area. Both fill a corner beautifully. Living in Maui, Hawaii, these trees appear to be very appropriate and I really like them. However, I have been hearing so much about the fact that all silk plants and trees are "yesterday's" deco. I really love these 2 trees and do not want to part with them. But I also do not want to look like I am living in the 80's or 90's. Opinions please!

Maybe add a couple of pots of real plants ( an orchid?) around them. I f you love them so what. Only a decorating snob might THINK something, but most of us couldn’t care less! Just keep them dust free.
There are places within some homes that are just too dark for plants. If you want a live plant you have to move one in for a while then switch it out with another so it can recuperate in a brighter room. The alternative is to use faux plants, and yours sound perfect. Quality items that are looked after do not go out of style.
There were many types of 80s decor and some of them are still around. Cottage/shabby chic style, country style, preppie style, art-deco revival style, southwest style, rooms full of chintz fabric. If you do a search for "80s decorating history" faux plants are not mentioned. When we look back at the 2010s we may remember it as the "greige" decade for its lack of color.
If they are so passe', why does every craft/home décor center and even floral shop still sell them? Lots of them! It's your home and if it makes you happy, that is all that really matters.
I have live plants mixed with quality faux plants and I challenge anyone to point out the difference.
I have also been known to add faux flowers to my plants. For instance, I have an orchid spray "growing" up through a peperomia and in my peace (flag) plant there are some creamy white calla blooms mixed in with real blooms.
I think the trick to mixing real and faux additions is creating a slightly imperfect asymmetrical look.... and always go with "real feel" quality if the "plants" are within touching range.
With my lack of a green thumb, I am afraid the live plants would suffer greatly. I'll just keep and love my faux trees but you had a very good suggestion. Mahalo.
If they are in a corner ,just make that corner interesting, maybe a chair draped with a beautiful throw, a large basket with an interesting design with a lid where you can hide, toys, shoes....art on the walls...
