Barkeepers friend will clean the aluminum. Take a wire brush (make sure it's brass or stainless) and give the cast iron a good scrub. And John is right about the stove blackening. Check this out
in my antique business for chrome i use aluminum foil on the chrome it does not scratch it bu takes off rust. i also use simichrome product found on amazon for all metals especially brass easy clean. wash the iron stove with soap and water if rusty clean sand lightly rust spots. when you get stove clean spray it with a flat black heat temp paint (found at home depots) or chimney sweep supplies. There is a black stove polish you can keep it looking pretty (chimney sweep supplies)
Vinegar will get all of the soot off. if your brick is old, use a baking soda wash afterward to neutralize the acid. If your stove is cast iron (I'm thinking it probably isn't since its an insert but you should be forewarned) don't get the vinegar on cast iron, it will cause rust to form
Any of the chrome/silver pcs can be cleaned with Diet
Coke and aluminum foil (shiny side) for your scrubber. Then, wipe off with clean rag to buff it shiny. Cast iron: If there's cooking build up clean with Easy off oven cleaner first and wipe off well with damp cloth. Then, to get the rust off coarse salt and vegetable oil and steel wool, then wipe down really well, to get off any excess salt and oil. They have stove polish paste that you can buy to make it nice and shiny, but the oil should do that. It should be heated for about an hour the cleaning process, to seal all of the cast iron to prevent future rusting.
V Nichols Is right about the coke, it will eat the rust right off. Even the pros use it to clean chrome. The oil and salt is also a great suggestion, thats exactly how i clean my cast iron cook wear. I also noticed that some people are suggesting vinegar. I am a welder/fabricator and I have experience in metallurgy. Please, do not use vinegar on cast iron, it is acetic acid and will eat away at the metal actually causing rust to form.

Hi Dotty What a pretty stove :) I have an Aga and use a product called Astonish to clean it. You can use it on all the elements (enamel, chrome, iron) I had a look and it's listed on US amazon (I'm in the UK!) so it is available worldwide https://www.amazon.com/Astonish-Oven-Cookware-Cleaner-8-4OZ/dp/B014H6GYF2/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1536136449&sr=8-4&keywords=astonish+oven+cleaner
It still takes elbow grease but it's what all the Aga specialists over here recommend.
Tks. Will give it a try if I can find it. I live in Canada. 😀
Clean off the grease and dirt with Dish liquid and nail brush. When dry use Stove Blacking
to make it look good again.......It will be worth it!

Tks! I will look for this and give it a try. Really appreciate the help.
My thoughts exactly! I suggest:
(1). Google the mftrs name & model name to see what they suggest.
(2). Use Dawn, the original blue type, dishwashing liquid & add plain white vinegar to warm water for scrub solution.
(3). I've used drill w/sander or use high grade sand paper to scrub w/sturdy vinyl gloves to prevent hand injuries from slithers.
Hope this helps out!! Awesome stove, by the way, really took me back to my visit's w/ grandparents on the farm. Blessings!
