Looking for Ideas on to repurpose these cabinet doors

Question

We recently remodeled taking down a pantry. I kept these oak paneled doors from the renovation and I'm looking for ideas on repurposing them. They are 18'x 40' and still have the original wavy glass in them. I would love to use them as architectural wall art but I'm at a loss as to whether I should put mirrors behind them like attached from Ballard Designs or if I should try adding material or a continuous canvass behind them. I'm open to suggestions...

I would love a set of these! Two ideas come to mind, one, hang them long ways on a wall with 'antiqued' family pictures behind the glass, or, two, secure them upright protruding from a wall to make a 'cubby' and put a nice little pedestal table with a vine plant inside.

WOW! If you had a master bedroom window that was 36x40, these would be gorgeous inside glass shutters! What a romantic accent that would make. The possibilities are nearly endless. They would be nice with photographs behind them, or painted with removable window stain (stain glass effect) and hung along side some dining windows like faux shutters.

Why not Annie Sloane chalk paint it leaving the hardware and replace the glass with mirror. It can make a great floor mirror.

Why not build a frame for these and put hinges so they can be opened into the room...then put a mural of a beautiful wooded scene behind them! If you did a beautiful patio with a lot of flowers and a walking path, that would look like you were always looking out onto a beautiful, never wilting, never out of season garden! Win/win situation!

Those are very cool doors! I would take some pallets and make a cabinet to fit those doors. I could see some multi-color fiestaware behind those doors or some pretty colored bath towels

I made a Curio Cabinet (see my project post called curio cabinet) out of similar doors. I used four doors but the sides could be wood. There isn't a lot of detail in the post, but if you decide to do this let me know and I can fill in some blanks. The trick was to make use of corner boards on the front that the doors hinge from.

How many doors do u hv? What room do u want to use the doors in? I can imagine these doors with a fabric or a hammered tin to match the hardware instead of glass. But if u decided on the fabric u could keep the glass as well and it would resemble perhaps a rainy day in a garden if it was a floral patterned fabric.. I think it all depends on where u want to put the doors as well if u want them to be functional or just decorative..

I would do nothing to change these. Build 2 separate shallow cabinets (8" or so deep) hinged from the top and hung horizontally. Then put a shelf in each one. Make the shelves to suit what you want to put in them. 1" thick boards will reduce the 18" to 16"...that gives you two, 8"x38" shelves (inside diameter)...or you could make one shelf 6" and one 10" tall. Cut grooves in the shelves and lean saucers with cups in front on the small shelf and plates on the larger shelf!

They could be used for anything!

Wow they are beautifu, so glad you saved them. You can hang them horizontally w the knob on the bottom add more knobs for scarves etc. add photos behind the glass. Just a suggestion you have a ton of options pick something you need and make it work
