Needing a creative cabinet door replacement, suggestions please?

I recently moved into a home in which the 2 cabinet doors under the sink are missing. The curtain they used to cover the opening is HORRIBLE. I can't find the same cabinet doors anywhere. What are some possible alternative ways to hide the opening?

Did you look online for cabinet doors? Here is one source: https://www.cabinetdoorworld.com

You could also make yourself or have someone make you two doors or one door to fit the opening. They wouldn't have to match the other doors--you could have them made flat and routed like the drawer fronts instead--that would be easier and very fast.

Great idea! I wasn't familiar with this website. Thanks for the tip!!

I could picture the opening being covered with a curtain in a color that matches the wall .

Shutters might be a good alternative.

Not sure what the curtain is hiding, but is it possible to add a shelf to the opening, and put decorative items there? In other words, use it as a focal point for the room?

If not, how about a shelf with some nice baskets you can store items in on them? I agree...the fabric doesn't work.

Some one I knew bought second hand windows, sanded them if needed, panted and distressed a little ,of course she had a 15 year old child . At the top they were beautiful. Pretty sure re painting the bottoms would be good. Go to a real good paint store and ask them about the best paint for that project . They should be able to find the perfect paint for you. I've seen them repainted, beautiful,so many colors to choose from !

I’m wondering if the doors from one of the other cabinets could be moved there and then you could either have open cabinets (very modern) or put glass doors on it to display your dishes and keep them dust free. You could also build a simple frame door and use the center to set the whole mood of the design. Anything from basic plywood stained to match the current cabinets which would then just blend in to making it an actual feature. Lace panels for a Victorian feel or chicken wire with fabric backing for a farmhouse vibe. Even try your hand at trompe-l’oeil and paint a cabinet full of garden pottery, or a chicken coop or a flowing stream. Oh the possibilities are endless. Of course I really like the shutter idea too.

I've already measured the other cabinet doors. It was a no go🤨 Great minds think alike! Thanks for the other ideas as well.

I agree with Tonia, Shutters would be what I would do, you could bring a small door to your local home center & ask if they could match the stain & tell them that you are getting new shutters and you want to stain them, in fact if you get the shutters at the same store , it would make it easier for you.

    Hope this helps

You can call any contractor who does remodels and discuss this with them.

They often pull out old cabinets and bring them to a "restore" places to be reused. If you take a photo of the space and perhaps measurements for the opening you more than likely could match these fairly easily. They are also being made currently so you could just order what you want. Good Luck Anna

Great idea! We actually have a few stores that are called "Restore" and they do just what you mentioned. No matching doors, but I got some really good deals and brand new $25.00 door handles that were priced at $10.00 each! Definitely not a wasted trip!! I like the idea of getting with contractors. Thanks!

take one of your other doors as a sample to a cabinet shop with measurements of what you need.they can make what you need.
