We are planning one here. We bought 2 antique cement pagodas at an estate sale.. .now we have to decide what to do next. Measure an area that you can border and frame maybe with landscape timbers or river rocks.then fill in the area with white rock chips or small white rocks. Then add a fountain and some Oriental statues. You can put a Japanese cut leaf maple in there. How about a small cement bench.....You could add in a koi pond later on. You can put a nice archway on the outside leading in. I have read that a Zen garden should be able to be looked at from a distance and give a feeling of peace. We will be searching for a foo dog statue and some Japanese lanterns. This takes time and our project will progress mostly in the Spring. These are just thoughts..
Seriously, spend some time on Pinterest and look for small Zen Garden ideas

I think a peaceful Zen garden sounds so nice. Wish ours were finished so we could relax there now.
There was something on this website this morning about how to make a gravel patio. That would be a good base for a Zen garden. I know that some gardens I have seen have beautiful windchimes. How peaceful that would be!
