How do I clean very stained gas burners for my stove top?

I have an older Gas Oven and I took it apart this weekend and those burners that you just take off? Well, they are stained and I don't want to scrub endlessly.

Is there something that I can boil them in? They are aluminum there has GOT to be some sort of corrosive material that will clean these! Any suggestions?

I "would" buy new ones but I plan on upgrading the appliances shortly.

I'm not sure if it will work but try full strength simple green. Soak them for a few hours and see what happens.

Spray them liberally w/hydrogen peroxide or vinegar. Sprinkle on baking soda to cover completely. Let them sit over night. Lightly scrub them clean in the morning :)

There is a product called "The Works". Now dont laugh but it is a toilet bowl cleaner. I soak anything metal in it that I want cleaned and EVERY time the metal is spotless. Just soak over night. Be forewarned, you will need to wear rubber gloves because this stuff has lye in it. When you take the item out of the soap just wash it with soap and water and I always tried to coat it with a thin coat of cooking oil then dry it with a towel. I have left tools outside in the rain and found them the next day solid rust and this stuff takes all the rest off of them.

I used spray on oven cleaner and then ran them through the dishwasher and was amazed how clean they became!
