DIY Scary Outdoor Halloween Signs

You can spook up the yard this Halloween season with these creepy DIY signs. They are so easy and fun to make! I started with Dollar Tree skeleton hands and cut off some of the fingers to point in a certain direction. I'm using these signs to point to our trick or treat station on Halloween night.
Check out our DIY Scary Outdoor Halloween Signs in action!
I started with basic skeleton hands from the Dollar Tree. I cut off 3 fingers down to the last knuckle. Then, they were hot glued to wood that was previously spray painted. If you have access to old weathered pickets or a pallet, I'd recommend that. I did not, so I bought wood pieces at the craft store and spray painted.
I created a creepy font that says "THIS WAY" that you can come on over and download. I traced it in a pastel gel pen before painting it white.

Originally I wanted to do it in a blood red color, but with the black background of the sign, I felt white was a better choice for the words to "pop."
To add some dimension to the signs, I mixed brown and red for a "blood" paint color. Then, I splattered white paint and then splattered and smeared the blood red paint over all the signs.

This is the finished single sign that doesn't have any words.
Here is a close up of the finished sign with the wording.

We bought a house this summer and it already has a post like this, I saw this sign and immediately knew I would be making one for our Halloween display!
