I have to make a cover for my well-pump housing and it has to be insulated for the winter but leave the pump accessible for maintenance.

Maybe one of those wooden wishing wells would work for you. I see them every now and then when I’m out driving.

Great idea. I will look around and see consider cost compared to some of the other ideas. Thank you!

We had well water years ago before moving. It was out of sight behind bushes, but we had a simple small shed DIY from HD or Lowes. (It was there when we moved in.) It was insulated, but there was also a single electric light bulb that was on a timer for a little warmth. Living in the SW didn't require much.

Are those requirements you are requesting from your county code dept?

I don't believe there are any special codes here. Good idea too! I will compare the cost of buying a DIY. I like that it was insulated. Our well is mostly below ground level and we drop a light bulb down close to the pump. It gives just enough heat. I am just not sure if the shed is more than is needed. We are in the SW too. Cost will be the deciding factor. Thank you!

How about one of those fake boulders that are made to cover mechanicals?

This sounds like the perfect solution. If it has no inslation, I bet that spray foam insulation will work just right. It also fits the SW surroundings. This sounds like the winning solution for us.

      Thank you!
