Standing Mirror to Decorated Wall Mirror

We have a short wall outside our bedroom that had been crying out for attention and a reproduction Cheval mirror that was looking for a place to hang for lack of standing room.
1st step was to place the holding brackets on the wall. We used fancy ceiling plant hook hangers. I didn't want to run the risk of someone knocking the mirror off the wall, and I didn't want to destroy the option of having it stand on the floor again, so I wanted to keep the swivel hangers attached to the frame in tact. They would have looked silly just poking out there.
At this point I still wasn't quite sure where I wanted to go with this project. I find that my projects come out better when they aren't planned. That way I surprise myself along with everyone else.
Wall painted with medium shade of grey.
I decided to frame the mirror so I established a 5" outer oval around the frame. I removed the mirror and painted the entire area a lighter shade of grey.
Hubby is an airbrush artist from way back. He loves scrolls and does an awesome job with them, so I asked him to use his imagination and draw scroll work for me.

We work well together. He knew exactly what I wanted.
Doesn't this look awesome!
I would have left it the way it is, but hubby said... No! It needs flowers! All I could picture now was birds and flowers. So I used a china marker and sketched out two birds perched at the top.
Butterflies are another favorite, so I added a pretty purple one, and then another.
Cardinals was my first choice of bird, but I had used them on a cabinet that I redid a few years ago, and wanted something different here. The blue bird of happiness popped into my head, and eventually perched themselves on the scroll work.
Filling in the holes. Wild blueberries abound here. So blueberries were added, periwinkle and forsythia. The wall began telling our story. Two garden fairies were added representing hubby and I. Bird tracks and muddy paw prints, are evidence of the animal kids we love so much. Honey bees and brown ants that have been known to stir things up here once in a while.
Here's my finished wall. We love it! It's the first thing we see when we leave the bedroom, and a very refreshing way to start the day. Visit my website to see more detailed pictures. I know I'm going to be hit on by a lot of art critics. Painting is an art and each painter has their own style. This is my style. It may not be perfect, but it works for me. :) Thanks for viewing! Have a wonderful day!
