We use the Scott's products. It's a 4-step program. The bags will tell you when it should be put out. Our lawn looks great. Nice and lush with not many weeds. My husband uses a walk-behind spreader to apply.

You can, but that kind of fertilizer promotes healthy, strong upward growth and flowering. Both the roots and the blades of grass need to be encouraged to grow strong if you want a greener lawn. Typically grass needs a high nitrogen fertilizer

The numbers on a bag of fertilizer designate Nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. For a lush green lawn you would need the nitrogen and potassium numbers to be higher than the phosphorous. Nitrogen would be the first number, phosphorous the second and potassium the third. You can get a soil test done at your county extension office in order to find out what the ph of your soil is and what ratio would be needed for your lawn to get a thick lush green lawn. Best wishes!

  • A more natural solition is epson salts.... wonderful for all plants especially vegetables. Dissolve powder in water and spray over lawn. I use a plastic cold drink bottle filled with solution and drilled holes in the lid... perfect
