DIY Pretty Lace Cement Planters
Hi Bob,
Make a cement slurry - dip lace in and cover all over - remove and place over pot that is upside down in a stake of some sort - leave to dry thoroughly before removing. Don't forget to lay a cover /tarpaulin om the floor as it will make a mess.
Hi Bob. I'm Cindy. I have seen pots made with fabric. Lace is new to me. For a cement pot made with fabric: Mix up a batch of casting cement. Casting cement is much lighter than concrete. Follow the directions on the bag. Turn a small bucket upside down and put down a layer of plastic wrap on the top of the inverted bucket. Put your fabric/lace in the cement mix and stir. Make sure it is completely covered with cement. Take it out and lay it on top of the plastic wrap. Allow to dry completely. Then remove your cemented fabric. Now you have a cement pot. Put soil and a plant it. p.s. drainage: you can put a few straws in the cemented fabric while it is still wet. -OR- wait for the cement to dry. Before putting soil in the new pot, put 1 to 2 inches of rocks in the bottom of the pot. Then put a layer of newspaper on top of the rocks. Then add soil on top of the newspaper and then your plant. This method eliminates the problem of root rot. Any extra water will set in the rocks. I hope this helps you. Good luck with this project.
