In order to paint the floor, you MUST first seal the floor. If the floor is not sealed, moisture wicks up through it.

How about carpet squares that you just plop down, no gluing.
Sheet vinyl can be put down and only held in place by trim at the edge of the room. You are limited by the size this is available. The widest I've seen is 17'6".
