Hi friends! My name is Mauri and I blog at TheAmericanPatriette.com where I share ideas for all things home to help women bring beauty into their homes and ultimately make them places to gather. I love sharing easy-to-follow, budget-friendly, and beautiful DIY tutorials!

I'm sharing a brief tutorial on how we repainted our brown, boring builder-grade kitchen cabinets to give our plain 'ole kitchen a beautiful, very budget-friendly refresh! You can see the amazing before and after pics, as well as grab the full (very detailed) painting tutorial on my blog.
We took down all of the cabinet doors and sanded them down really well. With an orbital sander, this didn't take that long!
After sanding, we primed the cabinet doors with an awesome primer that gives the cabinets a very smooth finish.
After a few coats of primer, we painted them with a very durable, authentic-finish paint. I talk a lot about this paint in the blog post - read about it so you can learn if that paint would be right for you and your project. We've been SO happy with the results, even two years after we finished the makeover!
Because the paint we used is so durable, there was no need for any kind of poly top coat! Once we finished painting to coat the cabinets, we were done with the entire painting process. Time to reattach hardware now!
Look at that beautiful finish!
We are loving the bright white cabinets and how much more open our kitchen feels now that we've lightened things up a bit.
Be sure to check out the blog post for the before pictures (you'll be amazed at what a $150 cabinet makeover can do!) and to snag the full tutorial!
