How can I match other colors for my downstairs bathroom?

I would get rid of the ruffled shower curtain and eliminate it all together. I would use crisp white towels and perhaps a striped rug that has green tan & white and find or make a piece of abstract art that has a white background with tan & greens in it.

I would paint the green and remove the shower curtain (too dated). That green paint does not go with the room at all. Painting it white or cream would look much better.

Ditch the shower curtain, tone down the green. Find a cute rug that has your tan, browns, and green in it, us other colors. Play with towels in colors from the rug. The easiest trick in the designers book is always start a color scheme with a multi color pattern, then the colors come natural.

I agree with everyone who has said remove the window and shower curtains completely, and repaint over the harsh green.

The walk-in shower is lovely and modern looking on its own; all that outdated frill is not show-casing it at all.

The green wall colour clashes with the tile colours. Changing it to a softer, more neutral shade will instantly update the whole room.

I would also advise you to remove the toilet seat cover and mat. Not only is this fuzzy fabric in the bathroom an outdated accessory, it harbours nasty bacteria.

You already have a white countertop what about using some white.

You can choose a watermelon red or a yellow in the same hue as the green. Go to a paint store and get swatches that have the wall color and find a complementary swatch. Blues could work if the right hue. I consider the tans neutral as well as the white. Start with the green and choose 2 other colors even if it is a rug or towels. I agree about removing the shower curtain since you have glass door. Good luck.

In addition to the above suggestions of repainting the walls and removing the curtains, why not paint the vanity and mirror and update the hardware? Find a painting you love and pick the colors from there. I know we’ve given you much more work than you were looking for!

The cheapest way to renovate would be buy a quart of white, tan, or grey/brown, a sea sponge and blot the paint onto the green. Remove the fur and ruffles and buy a rug and shower curtain with the contrast material. I will attach a picture of my sponge painted kitchen wall. Have fun!

Hi Caroline. I agree with previous comments. The curtains and wall color have to go. I would completely bypass curtains. I wouldn’t even suggest a specific wall color to you as everyone’s computer screen interprets color differently. Pick up a bunch of paint chips from your local paint or box store in the neutral whites family and bring them home and tape them to your tile and look at them at different times of the day as the colors will look differ and pick the color that compliments the lighter tile. I would also suggest painting or gel staining cabinet a warmer brown as the golden oak it is now clashes with the tile. I’d go with neutral towels and add pops of color with your accessories. Hi Caroline. I'm Cindy. Your bathroom is lovely but it does need updating. I agree with everyone about ditching the shower curtain. Your beautiful glass enclosure should be showed off, not hidden behind the curtain. If it's possible, the green paint should be eliminated too. Perhaps a soft color to match that beautiful tile. Then put some pops of color in with towels, art work, rug, etc. Best of luck to you.
