How can I tell what my hardwood floor is sealed with?

I need to fix some spots on the hardwood floor. I have no idea if it is varnished or polyurethane or what? Is theer a way to figure it out?

Hi! If it gets milky after a drop of water is applied to a spot for about 10 minutes, it's poly. If you touch the finish with acetone on a cotton swab, and it get's tacky, it's probably varnish (it will bead on poly). Be sure to test in an inconspicuous spot.
It is probably sealed with a varnish or varathane.
Scrape a sample from an insconspictuous area take to a paint store good luck
