TIN AWNING- Dressing up Your Inside Window

We were creating a laundry and dressing room combo out of a bedroom. We wanted something a little different and maybe even a bit fun in an industrial sort of way...
This post focuses on the window portion of the laundry - dressing room makeover.
It all started with this pink girly bedroom...
Once we finished the wall and painted the heating baseboard we decided to go with new grey stained trim around the window....
Ignore that blue window cling- it was for privacy while we worked. I love window clings for privacy and found one that looks better.
And that green plastic on the floor was to protect it while we worked.
These looked much better then the flat trim they had on the window and were very easy to do.
Next came building the tin roof overhang for the window. The wood frame depends on the size of your window of course and we stained it to match the window trim.
To make the tin look not quite so new we rubbed toliet bowl cleaner over it and scrubbed with steel wool- wear rubber gloves! Set it in the sunshine to help it age.
Attach the tin to the frame and it's ready to be attached to the wall.
We added a hanging sign when the Laundry was officially open for business!
We really like our new Laundry room / Dressing room and this window really adds to the look we were going for.
At the point we decided to do this we had everything we needed except the tin but it's still a very inexpensive project. It cost us about $7.50 for the tin panel but I'd say materials including the sign would cost no more then $15-$20 to make.

Could this be done for outside a small door leading to my backyard garden? When it rains, it hits the glass door and something like this would stop the rain from doing that. It would be like an awning, but more economical

Reroofed the house with a metal copper and have some left over... This will work perfectly and my Awnings will match the roof!
Thinking of painting house a charcoal gray with a soft black trim to go with the copper roof and awnings.
