How can I design a farmhouse styled kitchen?

How can I make a farmhouse kitchen in my 2003 new construction house without spending alot. I already have decor items galore, but cabinets are cheap looking. I don't think the hubs will let me paint them. Walls are beige family.

Hi Gwa, it sounds like your hubs is your biggest hurdle. If he won’t let you paint them, your really limited to wall paint and decor only. I see two options here; accept what is OR send him on a fishing trip and paint them anyway!
Me, I wait till hubby is gone for weekend and do it anyway! Garage is his, house is mine. And he no longer even attempts to tell me no!
Not sure what ur decor is...maybe chg the cabinet drawer pulls/knobs...paint a light gray...or coordinate grays n slate or grayish- blues...n distress...if u can chg up yr sink...a farmer's sink
