    wall electric outlets???

#1, turn off power at the box, for that room. unscrew face plate, receptacle will be held in by top and bottom screws, pull receptacle out of the metal box, will only come out as far as wires allow. Should be 3 wires, white, black, green, On the new receptacle, should be 2 aluminum colored screws, white to (pick one), black goes on the brass colored screws, opposite side, green goes on green. When installing wires bend them to round or "u" clockwise to fit over loose screws, fit wires and tighten clock wise, snug. Reinstall receptacle as was removed, stuff into box in the wall, reinstall cover plate, turn power on.

If it smokes or simple fire, cut the power and re follow instructions. Do not attempt if you are not comfortable with these instructions. If you succeed as you should, will save labour of electrician ($ possible 100.00)

    Hi Jma,

It's true that if you do this yourself, you could save the cost of an electrician. However, before you start, you'll need to check your local codes. Some areas require all electric connections to installed by an electrician and some require inspection when the job is done. Also note, that if you aren't comfortable with doing this, the instillation could cause an electrical fire and that won't save you any money at all. If you want to do this, do a lot more research. Read several articles and search youtube.com for installing videos. Read and watch until you're sure that you're comfortable with this project and you know all of the local codes. Wishing you the best. -Linda

I've replaced outlets and light switches many times. Its easy. To be sure you're safe, plug a lamp into the outlet and check that it goes off when you flip off the breaker to that area. Also be sure to match the color coded wires!
