Check the flapper inside the tank to make sure it is seated properly. Check the chain to make sure it is not holding the flapper up. Flappers do deteriorate over time so you may need to change it out. This is an easy fix but if your flapper is black I suggest that you put on vinyl gloves because the black will come off on your hands.
Also check the handle to make sure it is working well.
