Hi, Gerri: Is the cradle just a devorative object? I gathered so from your note, therefore, I would use it to reflect whatever holiday period is happening! You know: some small pumpkins and autumn (real or silk) and maybe a scarecrow "baby" for now and through Thanksgiving, then change to Christmas and on to winter (snowy things), etc.

If you want it to still look like a cradle find some vintage/antique linens for it. Sheets/pillow/quilt. I just had a big textile sale and one item I had was a mosquito netting for a carriage/cradle/crib. I sold it to a woman who was thrilled to have it as she had a cradle to decorate. If you don't want it to look like a cradle but to hold something else, you could store kindling or magazines.

Please post a picture of the fireplace and the room where you want to display the cradle. If we can see what your present decor style is, then it will be easier to offer some suggestions on how you could feature the cradle to fit in with your theme.
