Hi Mark, I have used "Grout Renew" available in small bottles at Home Depot. It comes in a few different colors and seems to be just like paint....quite thin paint. It is time consuming to apply to the grout but does work well if you are wanting to change your grout color to a lighter color than original. I applied it with a long handled artists brush and used a damp cloth to wipe up any excess that I seemed to keep getting on the actual tiles, no matter how carefully I applied the Grout Renew. It makes the grout less porous and has worked well in my home.
house no. 2 got the grout renew, it works very well. get a pair of knee pads, I used the ones I roller bladed with. a garden foam kneeler works as well.
Previous owner used whatever color grout they had to make repairs. Thus my shower was three colors of grout. I purchased a bottle of grout cleaner made specifically for this then applied the paint. I have wide grout lines with 12" squares. It turned out beautifully. Looks like a new shower. Heavy duty grout cleaner and grout renew both purchased at Home Depot or Lowes
I've used grout paint to change the color of my grout and to "clean" white grout and it works really well. Sometime it takes a few coats to get the desired effect. Good Luck!
