Huge family room with carpet that has long wrinkles. Can it be a diy fix or do I need to hire a carpet installer?

Hi. The carpet has stretched. You'll need 1 or 2 helpers, but it can be done.

    1. Purchase carpet knife(s) with several blades.
    2. Remove all the furniture.
    3. The carpet is on tacks at the walls so you'll need to lift one side folding it over at the center of the room.
    4. Now is a good time to look at the padding and see if it too has stretched. If so, cut down with carpet knife or box cutter.
    5. Get on the side of the room where the carpet is still tacked down.
    6. Holding carpet begin to gently kick carpet to the adjacent wall.
    7. Cut excess carpet with knife.
    8. Make sure carpet has attached to tack strip. Use rolling pin towards wall, if necessary, to tack.
    9. Consider putting down quarter round. Helps to secure carpet into tack strips. Happy DIY'ing!

I'm going to vote for call the pros. They have all the equipment necessary to properly stretch a carpet.
