This simple wooden entry chest was brought to me by a customer. She wanted it changed from its original blonde to a layered blueish-gray. She had seen the finish on a previous project of mine and wanted it copied.
The chest is simple with not a lot of detail. So she wanted to give it an update with a more unique look. Even though its simple, its made well and quite versatile.
I scooped out a few shades of gray, cream and light blue paint for her chest. I always like to scoop paint out of the original container when possible to prevent accidentally mixing colors. You can find great quality furniture paint online HERE.
The entry chest is painted in soft layers of grays, creams, and light blues. We decided to paint under the lid, but not the inside of the chest since "things" will be kept in there and there is no need. Plus the inside was in nice condition.
This is achieved by dry brushing the paint onto the chest one layer at a time. You can find a more detailed tutorial for this furniture painting technique here: How to Dry Brush Painted Furniture.
The chest is ready to head back home.
