You may be confusing bought chalk paint to making chalk paint from regular paint?
you should'nt need to add baking soda to already mixed chalk paint
There are several recipes for making your own chalk paint. Some people use Plaster of Paris and water added to regular paint (not paint and primer in one). Another recipe calls for using baking soda, but I don't know whether you also add water or if you just add the baking soda to regular paint. Already made chalk paint does not need any additives.
